Gunmen Kidnap Bayelsa PDP Treasurer's Wife,Son In Opume Community

Gunmen today stormed the Opume Community in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, abducting the wife and son of the state treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Gbalipre Turner.
Gbalipre Turner, is the younger brother of  a close associate of President Goodluck Jonathan and paramount ruler of Opume Kingdom, HRH King Amalate Turner.
Command spokesman, Mr Alex Akhigbe(DSP) told LEADERSHIP NEWS MEN that  the gunmen invaded the community and shot into the air sporadically to scare away any resistance and abducted the wife and son from their family  house in Opume.
"I received the information that the wife and son of the younger brother to King Turner was on Thursday evening kidnapped by yet-to-be identified kidnappers.
"Right now, our men have been deployed to the creeks to hunt down the kidnappers.
"Although the kidnappers have not made any contact with the family, we are waiting to establish contact so that we can follow up," Akhigbe said
Meanwhile, at least three persons were killed with machete cuts on today in an inter communal land dispute between Akenfa and Agudama-Epie communities in Yenagoa , Bayelsa State.
The three persons killed were said to be on the disputed land when they were attacked.
Already, one of the corpses has been recovered, while search was on for the other two as at press time.
All the victims were said to be indigenes of Agudama-Epie, depicting fear of reprisals as residents are apprehensive.
The situation triggered an open fight between youths of both communities as schools and businesses in the area were abruptly shut down.
Security has also been beefed up at the Yenagoa Campus of the Nigerian Law School and the Headquarters of the Central Naval Command, all located at Agudama-Epie.
LEADERSHIP confirms that the intervention of the State Security outfit, "Operation Doo Akpor," quelled the tensed situation.
It was gathered that the lingering land dispute has generated frosty relations between Akenfa and Agudama-Epie communities.
It was also learnt that no fewer than five youths who sustained machete injuries are currently receiving medical treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state capital.
A top security source in the state alleged that government had been complacent on the dispute between both communities ,as he appealed to the state government to take over the disputed land for peace reign in the area.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Alex Akhigbe confirmed that there were casualties, but could not give the exact figure.
Akhigbe said a team of policemen had been deployed to the scene of the fight and had been put under control.

osun monarch killed at ilashe ijesa

Some chiefs and residents of Ilashe Ijesa in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State on Thursday narrated how the monach of the town, Oba Adesina Anibijuwon, was killed by suspected members of Odua People’s Congress, who allegedly strangled him and left his corpse inside his residence which they set ablaze.
According to report from punch, those who recovered his corpse from the building said the charred remains of Anibijuwon were taken to the mortuary at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital in Osogbo by Osun Ambulance Service at around 10.30pm on Wednesday.
Some residents  said the officials of the state fire service, who came to put out the inferno, ran out of water.
Some residents wondered why some chiefs in the town went into hiding when the hoodlums invaded the palace, urging the police to interrogate them to see if they were culpable.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sunday Akere; his counterpart at the Ministry of Home, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sikiru Ayedun; and the Special Adviser on Security, Mr. Amos Adekunle, who visited the  town expressed shock on seeing the extent of damage done to the residence of the traditional ruler.
Our correspondent, who also visited the town, observed that the upper floor of the two-storey building where the monarch resided was completely razed.
One of the chiefs, Adejumo Operinmade, told PUNCH Metro that he was informed that some persons, who claimed to be OPC members, came and demanded to see the monarch, but they were told that he was asleep.
He stated that the strange visitors came back and they pointed a gun to the head of the monarch’s housemaid. They allegedly went to late Anibijuwon’s room and strangled the octogenarian monarch who had been blind for over nine years.
Operinmade said, “We were told that some gunmen who claimed to be OPC members came and wanted to see Kabiyesi but they were told that he was sleeping.
“They came back and held the housemaid living with Kabiyesi hostage and went to where Kabiyesi was sleeping. But immediately they came out, fire started and Kabiyesi was burnt inside the house.  His corpse was taken to the mortuary at LAUTECH.”
The Sasore of Ilase, Chief Oluwagbemiga Oke, said to the punch corespondent that there was no land dispute or chieftaincy tussle in the town, wondering why the suspected arsonists killed the monarch.
Chief Jumoke Ogunkeyede, whose brother gave  the burnt residence to the monarch, also said he heard that the hoodlums, who perpetrated the act, had an accident at the outskirts of the town while escaping from the scene.
He said, “We heard that they came in a red Mazda 323 and their car veered off into the bush while they were speeding away. We called journalists  from Osun State Broadcasting Corporation at Ibokun, but when they got there  to take photographs of the car, they saw that it had been set ablaze.
“They also removed the number plate of the car. I believe that they set the car ablaze to hide their identities. But the police could still find a way of unraveling those behind the killing and arson.”...........whats all this na only God can save us

This is because Helen will be performing at comedian AY’s London show holding that same day.
According to one of the planning committee members:
“Invitations have been sent out, except for few friends who are not in the country at the moment. Apart from the afore-mentioned names, we’re also expecting some other celebrities, which I don’t want to mention.”
Although, Peter’s mum passed on a year ago, his father, Mr. Okoye will lead other siblings from their base in Ifite-Dunu, Akwa Village, Anambra State, to Lagos for marriage rites.
Peter, 33, is going to be the first celebrity son of Mr. Okoye to marry. His brother, Paul has already proposed to his babymama and long time girlfriend, Anita Itokwu-Isama, but yet to pick a date.
However, the woman that rocks the life of their elder brother, Jude, 38, is yet to be known, as he has not been linked romantically with any lady.
Meanwhile, there is massive demand for the wedding aso ebi and headgear, otherwise known as gele, that go for N40, 000.
As you read this, we can tell you authoritatively that the demand has soared, but only few were able to get. Those who didn’t get the complete aso ebi have gone for the N5000 headgear.
An inside source said:
“There is no aso-ebi for men, except for family and close friends. However, the groom, Peter has given out free cap (blue) to friends, especially celebrities, who are excluded from the male aso-ebi. By now, they should have gotten theirs, with access card. The access card admits one person and should be brought to the venue.”

Paris restaurants usher ugly customers to back tables

Two upscale restaurants in Paris reserve their best tables for attractive customers and assign people who are considered ugly to corner tables where they will be less visible, a French daily has revealed.
A fat billfold is no guarantee of a good table at upscale Paris restaurants, which arrange customers based on two very specific categories: the attractive and the ugly.
Hostesses and waitresses at the chic restaurants Georges, on the rooftop of the Centre Pompidou, and Café Marly, overlooking the Louvre’s courtyard, have to observe strict seating arrangements based on looks, according to a French daily.
Tables near the entrance or on the terrace of Georges are kept for good-looking people, while those considered unattractive are quickly ushered to tables in the back or in the corners, Le Canard Enchainé newspaper revealed based on interviews with former wait staff.
At Café Marly, hostesses cannot promise reservations for tables on the terrace over the telephone, and must wait until guests arrive on premises to decide if they “deserve” their better tables.
One of the ex-waitresses quoted remembered being reprimanded: “What are you thinking? What are those “non-attractives” doing at that table!? The system is not that complicated… This is very bad for our image!”
The two high-end eateries belong to businessman Gilbert Costes, who the waitresses said sometimes showed up to the restaurants himself to instruct employees on how to sort the two kinds of customers.
However, exceptions are made for celebrities, who are always seated at the most prominent tables, regardless of looks, the report said.

Scores of bodies in Nigerian morgue after Islamist raid

Dozens of corpses in military uniform have been brought to a Nigerian morgue after Boko Haram fighters last week launched an attack targeting security forces in the Yobe state capital of Damaturu, AFP reported Monday, citing a hospital source.
"We have received lots of bodies in the last three days from the attacks. I counted 35 bodies in military uniform," a senior official at the Damaturu Specialist Hospital told AFP.
It was not immediately clear whether the bodies belonged to troops or insurgents since members of the Islamist group have repeatedly used military uniforms as a disguise when they attack.
Boko Haram fighters armed with guns and explosives stormed Damaturu after dark on Thursday, torching four buildings and sparking a fierce gun battle.
Yobe state military spokesman Lazarus Eli said no data was available on a death toll, but did not deny reports alleging dozens of troops died in the attack.
Troop fatalities in Islamist clashes are rarely disclosed and officials are under pressure not to reveal such information.
Nigeria's sweeping offensive against Boko Haram has entered its fifth month and the military has described the Islamist group as being in disarray and no longer capable of attacking major population centres.
But the success of the operation remains unclear and the attack in Damaturu, apparently carried out by a significant number of insurgents in a heavily fortified city, has cast further doubt on the effectiveness of the military offensive.
President Goodluck Jonathan had declared a state of emergency across the northeast in mid-May and vowed to permanently end the uprising. Jonathan must now decide whether to extend the emergency measures when the six-month mandate expires next month.
The conflict has killed thousands since 2009.
Boko Haram has attacked Christians, Muslims, students, politicians and a range of other groups seen as opposed to the creation of a state governed by strict Islamic law.

Cossy Orjiakor insures her breasts for $1.6M (N256million)

A report by Vanguard, claims that
controversial actress, Cossy Orjiakor
has insured her breasts for $1.6
million.
Read the report below:
The actress was reported to have
agreed to a deal to insure her
bloated mammary glands for a
whooping $1.6million amounting to
N256million.
The deal according to source, was
introduced to her by an American
friend who also dragged Enhanced
Silicon Inc. responsible for insuring
breasts of famous foreign celebrities
into the deal.
The company, which insured the
bosóms of Pamela Anderson and
Dolly Parton agreed to the deal just
before Cossy's recent birthday bash,
where she displayed her
endowments for the world to see.
The booby actress will be travelling
to Los Angeles in two weeks to sign
on the dotted lines. "I specifically
asked for $1.6 million," Cossy was
quoted as saying.
As part of the deal awaiting her
signature, there will be limits on how
many men and women who would
touch her bósoms each month. Also,
the bósoms have all been given
names and must now be treated as
people in future movie roles. That
means that Enhanced Silicon Inc.
will determine how much a movie
producer will pay each bosóm for an
appearance in a movie. "The
downside of the deal is that I may
get dressed', Cossy added.
Cossy seems pretty excited about
the deal as sources maintained that
each of the endowment will be
named and anyone who prefers to
touch will have to pay for it just as
Enhanced Silicon Inc. will
henceforth, decide the amount
producers will pay per breast, for
appearance in a movie

"YOU ARE A LIAR",SHIZZI TELLS DON JAZZY

Sheyi 'Shizzi' Akerele,a top ranking poducer who produced Wande Coal's version of the controversial song 'Baby Face', which Don Jazzy says was stolen from him, has released a statement explaining his involvement in the whole issue. He mentions that he produced Wande's hit song 'Go Low' which he never got credit for. See his statement below:
I have heard and seen some folks rants about me stealing production credit for Wande Coal's new single "Baby Face" and I would like to clarify this issue. I was only doing my job by making the beat for Wande and that's what I did. I don't see any reason why people should
jump into quick conclusions without taking their time to really dig into the matter for facts.
Two years back, I remember I created a demo for Wande Coal's "Shawty Go Low" and someone else took the credits. I was in shock because I had plans to finish the song with Wande and was hoping it would be released as a single which I produced. Wande Coal just released a studio demo version of Baby
Face which he says he recorded with Don Jazzy last year.

Andy Murray in 'gun scare'

British police said on Friday
they had arrested four men on
suspicion of brandishing a gun at
tennis star Andy Murray, although
media reports suggest they were
fans with nothing more threatening
than a tennis racquet.
The suspects' car was stopped and
searched and "no trace of a firearm
was found", Scotland Yard said in a
statement, adding that the men had
been released on bail pending
further investigation.
According to the Sun newspaper, the
men tapped on the window of
Murray's stationary car after a book-
signing in London on Wednesday,
trying to get him to sign a racquet.
The Wimbledon champion drove off
so they got back in their Mercedes --
but not before a member of the
public had called the police and
reported that one of them had a
weapon.
"Police were called at 19:00 on
Wednesday by a member of the
public reporting that they had seen a
male in a Mercedes car in Avenue
Road (northwest London) in
possession of a firearm," the police
statement said.
"The car was subsequently stopped
in Tadema Road (southwest London)
and four men were arrested on
suspicion of being in possession of a
firearm.
"They were taken into custody and
on Thursday bailed to return on a
date in late January, pending further
investigation.
"A search of the car was conducted
and no trace of a firearm was found.
Enquiries continue."
In July, Murray became the first
British man to win Wimbledon for 77
years, although he missed the latter
part of the season after undergoing

'Birthday rapist' gets 39 life terms

So-called "birthday rapist" Mlungisa Mtshali was sentenced to 39 life terms for 39 rapes by the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday, SABC radio news reported.
He was sentenced to another 212
years on more than 70 additional
charges of sexual assault, kidnapping
and theft. The life sentences will run
concurrently.
Mtshali was dubbed the "birthday
rapist" because he reportedly told his victims it was his birthday and invited them to celebrate with him at a nearby restaurant or bar. He would later ask them to accompany him, in a metered taxi, to fetch his sister or a friend in Hillbrow or central Johannesburg, where he lured the women into a hotel room
and raped them.
